UNSW is one of the leading teaching and research universities in Australia and is recognised internationally for the quality of its graduates and commitment to new and creative approaches to education and research. Its motto - Scientia Manu et Mente (Knowledge by Hand and Mind) - encapsulates the University's central philosophy of balancing the practical and the scholarly. UNSW degrees carry substantial weight among employers, with graduates found in all sectors and holding prominent positions in industry and government.

The MBT is a joint venture between the Australian School of Business and the Faculty of Engineering, and draws on the intellectual strengths and integrity of both.

One of the MBT's unique benefits is that it is a multi-disciplinary program, and thus able to provide the broad technology and business skills required for current and future management needs.

Employer benefits

The MBT is an applied graduate business program for experienced managers and professionals. Courses are specifically designed to be studied part-time, with course content immediately applicable to the workplace.

The MBT is both practical and scholarly, having class activities and assignments that provide the opportunity to apply theory to real-world situations. Most courses include work-based assignments which increase participants’ understanding of both course content and their own organisation simultaneously.

By increasing their understanding of the multi-disciplinary functions that are integral to modern-day organisations, MBT participants acquire a broader professional viewpoint together with relevant, up-to-date knowledge and skills. This benefits not only the participant, but also their employer.

James Rankin

The MBT Program experience was overwhelmingly positive. The program offered the flexibility of selecting from a great range of courses to suit your interests and learning needs combined with the flexibility of distance learning. I found the course materials to be first rate and the course leaders to be engaging and extremely knowledgeable in their fields. I recommend the MBT program to anyone looking for a broad learning experience from a world leading institution.

I found the MBT Program to be very challenging and rewarding. The broad range of courses on offer was helpful in tailoring the program to my requirements and making it relevant; having no core courses also meant that I did not have to repeat any courses taken during my undergraduate degree. In addition, many of the assignments had to be based on workplace situations, which helped to apply classroom theory to real-world business scenarios. The flexible method of delivery also made it easier to balance family life, work and travel. Class facilitators were very knowledgeable and did a great job in generating discussion amongst the group. I would thoroughly recommend the MBT Program.
